‘He’s called Skinfaxi, who hauls the shining
day over host-men;
he’s thought the best of horses among the Hreiðgotar,
light always shines from the steed’s mane.’
**Stanza 25:** When Odinn ask about Dagr, Vafþrúðnir responds.
Vafþrúðnir said:
‘He’s called Dellingr, he’s the father of Dagr,
but Nótt was born to Nǫrr;
the able powers made full moon and dark moon
as a year-reckoning for men.’
**Stanza 3:** Dagr is mentioned.
‘Hail, Dagr! Hail, Dagr’s sons!
Hail, Nótt and her kinswoman!
Look upon us both here with unwrathful eyes,
and give victory to those sitting [here]!
Chapter 10-12(p.14): Day is introduced as the son of Night and Delling. All-father sets him and his mother in the sky to ride around the earth.
Her last husband was Delling, he was of the race of the Æsir. Their son was Day. He was bright and beautiful in accordance with his father’s nature. Then All-father took Night and her son Day and gave them two horses and two chariots and set them up in the sky so that they have to ride around the earth every twenty-four hours. [...] Day’s horse is called Skinfaxi [shining-mane], and light is shed over all the sky and sea from his mane.’
Chapter 23-24(p.90): In a list of kennings for Earth, it can be called the "sister of Aud and Day".
How shall earth be referred to? By calling it Ymir’s flesh and mother of Thor, daughter of Onar, bride of Odin, rival of Frigg and Rind and Gunnlod, mother-in-law of Sif, floor and base of winds’ hall, sea of the animals, daughter of Night, sister of Aud and Day.
Chapter 58-60(p.137): In a list of mythical horses, it is noted that Skinfaxi (or Glad) goes with the Day, reaffirming the information from Gylfaginning.
Arvak and Alsvinn draw the sun, as was written above. Hrimfaxi or Fiorsvartnir draw the night, Skinfaxi or Glad go with the day.
