**Stanza 18:** Hœnir is the one that gave inspiration to humans.
‘They possessed no breath, they had no inspiration,
no locks or voice or good colours;
Óðinn gave breath, Hœnir gave inspiration,
Lóðurr gave locks and good colours
**Stanza 61:** Hœnir is mentioned in what happens after Ragnarok.
‘Then Hœnir can select the [sacrificial] lot-twig,
and the sons of two brothers inhabit
the wide wind-home. Would you know still [more], or what?
Chapter 21-23(p.23): Hænir is named as the hostage exchanged for Niord in the truce between the Æsir and the Vanir.
‘Niord has a wife called Skadi, daughter of the giant Thiassi. [...] Niord is not of the race of the Æsir. He was brought up in the land of the Vanir, but the Vanir gave him as hostage to the gods and took in exchange as an Æsir-hostage the one called Hænir. He came to be the pledge of truce between the gods and the Vanir.
Introduction(p.59): Hænir is listed as one of the twelve Æsir serving as judges at Ægir's feast, and also as one of the three Æsir who journeyed and met the giant Thiassi.
Then the Æsir instituted their banquet and twelve Æsir who were to be judges took their places in their thrones and their names are as follows: Thor, Niord, Freyr, Tyr, Heimdall, Bragi, Vidar, Vali, Uli, Hænir, Forseti, Loki...
He began his account where three Æsir set out—Odin and Loki and Hænir - and crossed mountains and wildernesses, and food was difficult to come by.
Chapter 8-16(p.76): Snorri lists the kennings that can be used to refer to Hænir.
How shall Hænir be referred to? By calling him Odin’s table-companion or comrade or confidant and the swift As and the long foot and mud-king.
Chapter 22(p.87): Hænir's name is used in kennings for Loki, referring to him as "Hænir's friend".
The much-wise corpse-heap-wave-[blood-]gull [eagle] began to speak from an ancient fir. Hænir’s friend [Loki] was not well disposed to him.
Then the burden of Sigyn’s arms [Loki], whom all the powers eye in his bonds, got stuck to the ski-deity’s [Skadi’s] fosterer [father, Thiassi]. The pole clung to the mighty haunter of Giantland and the hands of Hænir’s good friend [Loki] to the end of the rod.
Chapter 22-23(p.88): Loki is referred to by a kenning as "the trier of Hænir's mind".
I have heard this, that the trier of Hænir’s mind [Loki] afterwards tricked back the Æsir’s girl-friend with the help of a hawk’s flight-skin...
Chapter 37-39(p.99): Hænir is named as one of the three Æsir, with Odin and Loki, who killed Otter and thus became involved in the story of Andvari's gold.
What is the reason for gold being called otter-payment? It is said that when the Æsir went to explore the whole world – Odin and Loki and Hænir – they came to a certain river and went along the river to a certain waterfall, and by the waterfall there was an otter...
