**Stanza 9:** Thor declares his name and lineage, naming Meili as his brother.
Þórr said:
‘I would tell my name, even if I were outlawed,
and all my lineage, too: I am Óðinn’s son,
Meili’s brother and Magni’s father,
strong-ruler of gods — it’s Þórr you’re speaking to here!
Now I want to ask this, what you are called.’
Chapter 17(p.80): In a verse from Haustlǫng, Thor is referred to by the kenning "Meili's brother".
The son of Iord drove to the game of iron [battle] and the moon’s way [sky] thundered beneath him. Wrath swelled in Meili’s brother [Thor].
Chapter 22(p.87): Hænir is referred to by the kenning "step-Meili".
The mountain-wolf [giant] asked step-Meili [Hænir] to share out to him his fill from the holy table.
Chapter 23(p.89): In a verse by Thiodolf of Hvinir, Thor is again referred to by the kenning "Meili's brother".
Iord’s son drove to iron-game [battle], and the moon’s way thundered under him. Meili’s brother’s rage swelled.
Chapter 75(p.156): Meili is listed as a son of Odin, and thus brother of Thor.
Odin’s sons are Baldr and Meili, Vidar and Nep, Vali, Ali, Thor and Hildolf, Hermod, Sigi, Skiold, Yngvi-Freyr and Itreksiod, Heimdall, Sæming.
